SWITCHmirror started its operational service on Wednesday 24. March 2004. It replaced the former Swiss SunSITE server.

The hardware in use since June 2008 is a Sun T5220 with an 8-core UltraSPARC T2 (Niagara 2) CPU running at 1.4 GHz and 64 GByte RAM running Solaris 10. Attached via Serially Attached SCSI (SAS) are two Sun StorageTek 2530 disk arrays, each with 12 300 GB, 15'000 rpm SAS disk drives.

The system is located in the center of Zurich and it is directly attached to the SWITCH backbone network with a 10 Gbit/s interface.
The Server supports FTP and HTTP over both IPv4 and IPv6.

We use the Apache 2.2 web server and the vsftpd FTP server.
